MANCHESTER — Ephrata scored a goal in the first overtime to hand Chambersburg a 2-1 defeat in the third-place game of the District 3 Class 4A boys soccer tournament on Saturday at Northeastern High School.

The Mountaineers (18-4) advanced to the PIAA Tournament, while the Trojans (12-5-4) were eliminated.

Chambersburg took the lead in the first half when Griffin Redding took a corner kick and Connor Gniewek knocked the ball into the goal.

The Trojans kept that lead, although they had a player ejected with around 10 minutes left in the game. But, playing down a man, Chambersburg’s defense finally allowed the tying goal with just 3:09 remaining in regulation.
