Kyle Swartz of Northern York rushed for 215 yards Friday night to lead the Polar Bears to a 14-7 victory over the Greyhounds.
Shippensburg jumped out to an early 7-0 lead on a Carter Van Scyoc 21-yard pass to Cain Fridinger.
Swartz scored twice in the second half, once from 59 yards and once from five yards and the Polar Bear defense shut down the Greyhounds after the first quarter.
Van Scyoc completed 10 of 24 passes with one intercepted for 129 yards. Fridinger, Adam Houser, and Nick Gustafson each caught three passes for the ‘Hounds.
Phil Torres and House combined for 114 yards rushing.
The Greyhounds currently sit in the fifth spot in the District 3 Class 4A power ratings. The top 8 make the playoffs. They are 5-3 overall and 2-2 in the Colonial Division. They should need one victory against either West Perry (road) or the Little Brown Jug battle with Big Spring at Home.
