Rockets hit the road to Smithsburg, Md.

This season the James Buchanan Rocket football team is 0-6 in Pennsylvania.

In Maryland, the Rockets are 1-0 and will look to improve to 2-0 as they travel Friday night to Smithsburg to take on the Leopards with a 7 p.m. kickoff scheduled.

JB (1-6) is coming off a 48-0 loss at West Perry last Friday. In that game the Rockets turned the ball over 6 times (4 fumbles, 2 interceptions), generated less than 150 yards of total offense while giving up over 400 yards.

The Leopards, who are 3-3, defeated Brunswick (Md.) last Friday, 24-18. Connor McCuin was the workhorse in that victory as he rushed for 207 yards and 3 TDs. On the season, McCuin has gained 739 yards and scored 8 TDs.

One common opponent the Rockets and Leopards have is Clear Spring (Md.), which both have beaten.

In the Rockets’ 30-6 victory, Owen Stoner exploded for a career-high 309 yards and 4 TDS.

Smithsburg won its game over Clear Spring 42-6 and running back Corey Jackson rushed for 170 yards and 2 TDs.
