YORK — Karsen Rush and Mary Kate Norcross of Chambersburg placed high enough in the District 3 Golf Championships on Saturday to ensure their place in the PIAA Eastern Regional Tournament.
Rush shot a second-day score of 74, 2-over par, to finish at 5-over for the two-day event. That put him in a tie for ninth in Class AAA with Max Seeber of Cumberland Valley and Logan Hess of Penn Manor.
The top 16 advanced to regionals, which will be held Monday, Oct. 16, at Golden Oaks in Fleetwood. Joe Parrini of Central York captured his third district title with an impressive 8-under total.
Chambersburg’s Grayson Hopple just missed out on a trip to regionals. He shot a 76 Saturday to finish in a tie for 17th, at 10-over par. He fell one stroke short of getting into a playoff for the 16th spot.
In Class AAA girls, Norcross finished in a tie for sixth; the top eight advanced to regionals. The Trojan posted a score of 83 on Saturday, putting her at 20-over par for the event, tied with Ammala Moua of Cocalico.
Kendel Abrams of Susquehannock won with a 6-over total.
