GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Chambersburg 3, Central Dauphin 1: The Trojans turned around a result against the Rams from early in the season (a 3-0 defeat) by beating CD on Tuesday night at CASHS Field House, 25-20, 25-20, 22-25 and 25-23. Chambersburg is now 7-3 (6-3 MPC).

Trojan assistant coach Bobby Culler said, “This was a good win for us tonight against a very good CD team. Breanne Byers, Bailee Nitterhouse and Ashley Adams had great games and Lauren Ching was once again solid all the way around. Ansley Runk and Chelsea Layman played great defense for us.”

Byers (10), Nitterhouse (9) and Adams (9) led in kills; Ching had 40 assists, 4 aces and 14 service points; and the leaders in digs were Runk (15), Nitterhouse (10) and Layman (7).

CROSS COUNTRY

Girls: Chambersburg 21, Central Dauphin 38. Trojan senior Abby Yourkavitch saved the best race of her fabulous career for her last race on the home course Tuesday. She ran a time of 18:18 on the 3.1-mile course at Falling Spring Elementary to help her team defeat Central Dauphin in the last final Mid Penn Commonwealth meet of the season.

Also for Chambersburg, which finished 5-1 (5-1 MPC), Kiera Whitehead took second in 20:22, Kaylee Mowery was fifth in 21:01, Ana DeGeorge was sixth in 21:06 and Kyleena Purvis placed seventh in 21:15.

Boys: Chambersburg 21, Central Dauphin 38. Trentin Overcash turned in a fine time of 16:57 to lead the Trojans to a 21-38 victory over the Rams in a Mid Penn Commonwealth meet.

Chambersburg (3-3, 3-3 MPC) also put Orion Kimberly (3rd, 17:12), Patrick Zook (4th, 17:24), Joe Corwell (6th, 17:28) and Matt Hoover (7th, 17:45) among the scorers.

Lower Dauphin 4, Chambersburg 0: The defending PIAA state champion Falcons put an end to the Trojans’ four-game win streak with a non-league victory Tuesday night. Jason Becher scored 3 goals and Ryan Becher had the other for LD.
