River Dell (NJ) made their first trip to Pennsylvania a successful one. They tallied the final three scores of the game to secure a 36-19 non-league decision over the Greyhounds.

The loss doesn’t affect the Greyhounds in the play-off hunt since River Dell is not a PIAA school. River Dell is traditionally one of the top teams in New Jersey so this was an opportunity for the Greyhounds to prepare for the rest of the season.

Phil Torres gave the Greyhounds an early 6-0 lead as he scored from 3 yards out but River Dell tallied twice to take a 14-6 lead. David Estavez scored twice from short yardage before the ‘Hounds closed the gap on a Carter Van Scyoc TD pass to Cain Fridinger. The River Hawks led 14-12 at the half.

Estavez and Adam Houser exchanged touchdown to give the Hawks a 21-19 third quarter lead. Estavez broke off a 35-yard score just before the end of the third quarter and the River Hawks scored 11 points on another Estavez run and a Julias 29-yard field goal.

Van Scyoc completed 21 of 34 passes for 217 yards and Fridinger caught nine passes for 123 yards and Houser caught six passes for another 48 yards.

Torres led the Greyhounds with 43 yards rushing on 14 carries while Houser added 36 on 13 carries.

Estavez rushed for 140 yards and completed six of 12 passes for 49 yards. David Fletcher led all rushers for River Dell with 20 carries for 163 yards.
