Rockets to get well deserved rest

If there was any week to have a bye, this is the one for the James Buchanan football team.

The Rockets are coming off a 52-6 loss to Camp Hill last Friday and will use this week and next week to rest and heal some injuries in preparation for their Sept. 23 game at Clear Spring, Md.

Last week’s loss dropped JB to 0-4 an extended its losing streak to 26-straight losses.

“Because of some injuries and other things we had to play five or six freshman last week,” JB coach Andy Stoner said. “Caden Stoner (one of the freshman) did a pretty decent job at quarterback. The younger guys are getting and working better.”

Against Camp Hill, the Rockets’ defense surrendered 519 yards, including 374 through the air. Offensively for JB, Cormac Houpt had 104 yards rushing.

“For us to be successful we have to win the line of scrimmage,” Andy Stoner said. “We will only go as far as our line takes us.”

This week and next the Rockets will be prepping for Clear Spring, which is 0-3 and plays Hancock, Md. on Saturday. Also, Sebastain Wise, who missed the first for games with a leg injury, will be back at starting quarterback vs. the Blazers.

“We have started planning for our game with them and we’ll go watch that game Saturday,” Andy Stoner said. “The guys are in good spirits and looking forward to our game with Clear Spring.”
