GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Chambersburg 3, Carlisle 0: The Trojans and the Herd played a hard-fought match Tuesday with three close games, but Chambersburg (2-1, 2-1 MPC) managed to come out on top in all three — 26-24, 25-23 and 25-21.
Trojan coach Ty Frelin said, “This was a nice win. Carlisle is a good team and they didn’t make many mistakes, but we fought through and made the plays when we needed to.”
Ashley Adams had a big night for Chambersburg with 11 kills on 23 attempts and only two errors, and added four blocks. Bailee Nitterhouse was tough at the service line, scoring 20 points, including six aces, and added 12 digs. Lauren Ching had 18 assists and 11 digs and Lexi Anderson dug up 15 balls.
BOYS SOCCER
Chambersburg 3, New Oxford 0: Asher Schwartz tallied two goals to lead the Trojans over New Oxford in a non-league tilt Tuesday.
Omario Duncan also hit the net for Chambersburg (2-1-1), while Connor Gniewek, Chuy Munoz and Griffin Redding had assists. Andrew Armstrong made 4 saves to preserve the shutout.
GIRLS SOCCER
Chambersburg 1, James Buchanan 0: Gabby Lecuona scored her fourth goal of the season on a shot from outside the 18 in the second half to lift the Trojans over the Rockets.
“The girls did a good job of possessing the ball, but a hard time finding the back of the net,” Chambersburg coach Ed Franchi said. “The defense played very well to limit their opportunities.”
