It took a total team effort for the Greencastle volleyball team as they rolled to their first win of the season sweeping Northern 25-8, 25-18 and 25-19 on Saturday. Offensively, the Blue Devils were led by sophomore Baylee Schaeffer with 9 kills, junior Rachel Verhoef with 8 kills and senior Keri Gearhart (pictured above) with 7. Verhoef added 3 service aces for Greencastle.
With the win, Greencastle improves their record to 1-2 on the season. “We knew going into this week that this was going to be a tough first week,” said Blue Devil head coach Corry Eagler. “Now we can head into next week with a lot more confidence,” Eagler said.
On the defensive side the Blue Devils were led by Gearhart and senior Madee Goodwin each with 11 digs. Sophomore Kylie Cunningham recorded 9 digs while junior Brianne Lugar added another 6.
Up next for the Greencastle girls is a trip Tuesday to face Mechanicsburg.
