Dillsburg won its third straight game to move into the Championship Round of the 12U Division by defeating Greencastle 13-5 Monday night at Doc Norcross Stadium in Shippensburg. The loss eliminates Greencastle from District 14 double elimination tournament.
Dillsburg batted around in the second inning scoring 4 runs despite having only one base hit. Dillsburg took advantage of four walks, a hit by pitch an error and a 2 run single by DJ Daggs to build there lead.Dillsburg added three more in the top of the third on an RBI double from Garret Weber and a 2 run double by DJ Daggs to extend there lead to 7-0.
Greencastle got on the board in the bottom of the third on a solo homerun from Adam Horst.
Dillsburg added 2 more in the fourth on a 2 run homer from Connor Taylor to stretch there lead to 9-1. Greencastle was able to pick up 2 runs in the bottom of the fourth on a pair of bases loaded walks to cut the lead to 9-3 but Dillsburg bounced back in the top of the fifth with a 2 run single by Alex Williams.
Greencastle came back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth when Aidian Grudzinski hit a 2 run double to make it 11-5. Dillsburg came right back in the top of the sixth on a two run homer from Layne Hose to round out the night’s scoring.
Dillsburg used five pitchers in the game and held Greencastle to just five hits on the night.
Dillsburg will play Shippensburg Tuesday night at 6:00 pm, a Shippensburg victory will clinch the District 14 title, if Dillsburg wins it will force another game with Shippensburg on Wednesday.
The tournament winner will advance to the Section 7 Tournament in Exeter Township beginning July 15.
