McConnellsburg defeats Fannett Metal

McConnellsburg 10, Fannett Metal 2: The Spartans hosted the Fannett Metal Tigers on September 11 and cruised to a league win, stretching their winning streak to four games.
McConnellsburg struck eight minutes into the game when Hoyt Glenn scored off a Callan Mellot assist. Three minutes later, Lincoln McKelvy added a goal on an assist from Ethan Lange. Glenn scored again in the 21st minute from McKelvy, then completed his hat trick five minutes later with an unassisted goal. McKelvy added another unassisted goal with less than three minutes left in the half. The Spartans kept pressure on the Tigers through the closing seconds, narrowly missing a Glenn header, and took a 5-0 lead into halftime.
Six minutes into the second half, Grady Shives scored, and Glenn followed less than two minutes later with his fourth goal. Fannett Metal got on the board with a penalty kick nine minutes into the half, but Glenn answered 30 seconds later with his fifth and final goal. In the 14th minute, Lange finished a cross from McKelvy. The Tigers added their second goal with under three minutes remaining.

McConnellsburg 3, Fannett Metal 0. The Lady Spartans hosted the Fannett Metal Lady Tigers on September 11 in conference play, earning their fifth straight win and fourth shutout.
McConnellsburg opened the scoring just after the fifth minute when senior Gemma Gordon finished a loose ball on the goal line after Molly McKelvy’s corner kick bounced through traffic. Gordon scored again shortly after the 20-minute mark from the left wing, and junior midfielder Laynee Hendershot added the Spartans’ third goal 24 minutes into the second half.
Totals: MHS — 2 goals, 32 total shots, 19 shots on goal, 5 corners, 8 goalkeeper saves, 3 fouls and 4 free kicks.
