H.S. golf roundup: G-A places 2nd behind Gettysburg

MID PENN COLONIAL: Greencastle-Antrim hosted a Mid Penn Colonial golf match Wednesday afternoon and took advantage of its home course, Greencastle Golf Club, to place 2nd behind the winner, Gettysburg.

The Blue Devils scored 323 strokes to finish 6 strokes behind the Warriors, who were led by freshman Parker Tokar. He fired a 3-under par 69 and won medalist honors by 10 strokes.

For Greencastle (12-8), Jex McDowell had a breakout day, with a 79. All four of G-A’s scorers banked a score of 82 or better, including Camden Eby (80), Bryce Davidson (82) and Landon Summers (82).

Chambersburg (2-18) came back from a rough outing on Monday to shoot 354 and take fifth place. Kole Peiffer tied for second with his 79, while Mason Lehman and Alex Moore each shot a 90.

Shippensburg (9-11) finished fourth, led by Kaydee Beckenbaugh’s 79 and an 89 by Andrew Eshenour. Waynesboro (4-16) settled for sixth place, with a 86 by Rylan Nichols the best score.

In addition to Beckenbaugh’s 79, the best girls scores were Abby Byers of Waynesboro (91), the Trojans’ Abby Rensch (99) and Genevieve Bennett of Ship (102).
