SOFTBALL
Chambersburg 1, State College 0: The Trojans got an outstanding pitching performance by Issie Slimmer and used some wildness by Little Lion pitcher Paige Moriarta to pull out an 8-inning Mid Penn Commonwealth win Tuesday at Norlo Park.
Moritata had blanked Chambersburg (3-1, 2-1 MPC) for 7 innings, but in the bottom of the eighth, Addy Gsell hit a leadoff single. Moriarta got 2 strikeouts, but then lost her control. She hit Kylee Perry with a pitch, gave a 4-pitch walk to Piper Jones and then Hensley Brookens drew a 5-pitch walk to bring in the winning run.
Slimmer allowed 3 hits and 1 walk in 8 innings, striking out 7.
BASEBALL
State College 1, Chambersburg 0: The Little Lions scored in the second inning for the game’s only run in the Mid Penn Commonwealth clash in State College on Tuesday.
State College’s Rowan Walker (2 innings) and Cody Norman (5) held the Trojans (4-1, 2-1 MPC) to just one hit, a leadoff single by Ceagan Truett in the sixth inning. Chambersburg had the bases loaded in the second, but couldn’t break through.
Jaron Nalewak gave up 4 hits and a run in 4 innings of work. Cam Wadel threw 2 innings and gave up just 1 hit.
GIRLS TRACK & FIELD
Chambersburg 136, CD East 14: The Panthers put up little resistance against the Trojans on Tuersday at Trojan Stadium in a Mid Penn Commonwealth meet.
Lily Spohn (800 and 1600) was the only double winner for Chambersburg (2-0, 2-0 MPC), which showed its depth. Trojan coach Chris Monheim said wins by Maggie Holtry (400), Sienna Scott (high jump), Kendall Temchak (javelin) and Addi Zimmerman (long jump) and Marlee Jackson (300 hurdles) were highlights.
BOYS TRACK & FIELD
Chambersburg 129, CD East 20: On a perfect day for a meet, the Trojans swamped the Panthers in a Mid Penn Commonwealth contest at Trojan Stadiam on Tuesday.
Odenie McLaughlin put on a jumping show, taking 1st place in the long jump, triple jump and high jump to pace Chambersburg (2-0, 2-0 MPC). Coach Jim Boyer also pointed out Isaiah Ferguson (1st 110 hurdles, 2nd 300 hurdles, a realay leg in the 4×100) and Julian Clark, who won the 800 and 1600.
BOYS TENNIS
Palmyra 4, Chambersburg 1: No. 1 singles player Anton Winter was the only Trojan to find a victory in a non-league loss to Palmyra on Tuesday. Winter won 6-0, 6-0 for Chambersburg (3-5).
