Paul Hendershot and Owen Oakman each collected three hits in four at bats, as the SoFo Indians (2-1, 0-1) defeated Tussey Mountain 15-1 on Wednesday. Hendershot hit a solo home run to center field in the first inning, singled in the fifth inning, and singled in the third inning. Oakman doubled in the second, doubled off the fence in the fourth, and singled in the fifth.
The Indians scored 11 runs in the fifth inning on their way to the run rule victory. The big inning erupted with an error that scored two runs, Kaden Saunders singled, scoring one run, Brady Dressel singled, scoring one run, Colt Mann singled, scoring two runs, Hendershot singled, scoring two runs, Austin Mann homered to left field, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run.
The Indians got on the board in the first when Hendershot hit a 2 out solo home run to center field.
SoFo added two runs in the third when Oakman doubled to center field, making the score 3-0.
Jr, Cam Cain (1-1) earned the win for SoFo. The hurler gave up one hit and one run over four innings, striking out seven and walking four. Camden Chilcote took the loss for Tussey Mountain. The starter went four and two-thirds innings, surrendering 10 runs (three earned) on eight hits, striking out five and walking two. Mann pitched one inning of no-run ball for SoFo in relief. The right-handed pitcher allowed zero hits, striking out none and walking one.
The Indians collected 12 hits in the game. Hendershot and Oakman each collected three hits. Lincoln Hendershot collected two hits in three at bats for the victors.
Parker Young went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in.
The Indians will host Berlin Brothersvalley Mountaineers at 4:00pm on Thursday.
