Austin Mann’s Big Day Propels SoFo Past Mountain Ridge

Austin Mann drove in five runs on three hits to lead Southern Fulton (1-1, 0-1)past Mountain Ridge 12-4 on Friday in Warfordsburg. Mann doubled in the second inning, scoring three runs, and doubled in the first inning, scoring two.

Mountain Ridge got on the board in the top of the first inning after the Indians committed an error, and Nathan Miller grounded out, each scoring one run.

Mann doubled to left field, which helped the Indians tie the game at two in the bottom of the first.

In the bottom of the second, SoFo  broke up the tie when Mann doubled to deep center field, scoring three runs. Then a single by Owen Oakman followed to extend the lead to 6-2.

The Indians tacked on three more runs in the third thanks to a bases loaded two out Paul Hendershot double to deep left center field, making the score 9-3.

Kaden Saunders earned the win for the Indians. The righty hurler gave up three hits and three runs (zero earned) over three innings, striking out four and walking one. Ryder Lewis took the loss for Mountain Ridge. The pitcher went two and one-third innings, giving up seven runs (six earned) on six hits, striking out two and walking two. Cam Cain, Brooks Norris, and Colt Mann each threw scoreless innings for the Indians in relief.

SoFo tallied 11 hits in the game. Hendershot and Mann each collected multiple hits for SoFo. the Indians had a strong eye at the plate, collecting six walks for the game. Lincoln Hendershot and Colt Mann led the team with two free passes each. Colt Mann stole three bases. 

The Indians will travel to Tussey Mountain to take on the Titans for their next game on Monday at 4:00pm.
