Chambersburg 5, Northern York 0: The Trojans opened the season with a shutout victory in a non-league contest at Norlo Park over the Polar Bears on Monday afternoon.

“I’m excited about the start of the season,” Chambersburg coach Nico Mucci said. “Having come off a first week of rain, and not much tennis, we were all happy to see the wins we could put together against Northern.”

The Trojans’ Anton Winter rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles, followed by a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 2 by Eli Keeler and a 6-2, 7-6 nod at No. 3 by Micah Detweiler.

Mucci said, “We are very fortunate to have Anton, a foreign exchange student from Germay, this year — he’ll be leading us this season.”

The two Chambersburg doubles teams also picked up straight-set wins. Drew Staley and Caden Brenize at No. 1 earned a 6-3, 6-3 win, while at No. 2, Orran Neff and Nate Weis teamed up for a 6-1, 6-1 drubbing.
