BOYS BASKETBALL

McConnellsburg 63, Claysburg-Kimmel 52.  On Thursday, December 4th, the Spartans visited the Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs for a cross-conference game.  A strong fourth quarter lifted the Spartans (2-0, 1-0 ICC-S) to victory by 11 points. 

The first and second quarters played close with several lead changes with the Spartans holding a slight two-point edge at halftime, leading 31-29.  The third quarter saw nearly even scoring with a Ramsey three at the buzzer to retake the lead by one, 45-44.  In the final quarter the Spartans outscored the Bulldogs by ten (18 to 8).  A trio of double-digit Spartan scorers (totals – Hoyt Glenn 21, Brayden Ramsey 16, and Jace Fletcher 11) contributed to the victory.

McConnellsburg Overruns Mount Union

GIRLS BASKETBALL

McConnellsburg 58, Mount Union 17.  On December 5th, the Lady Spartans visited the Mount Union Lady Trojans for a non-conference game and piled on the points early to cruise to victory.  A well-balanced attack led McConnellsburg over Mount Union in every quarter. With the first half consistent dominance, the crew ran away with 47 points and mostly just sat on those in the second half, while employing the bench to gain valuable minutes and experience, to pick up the victory.

An impressive offensive performance by Journie Jefferson, who led all scorers with a season-high 22 points, followed by Serenity Rengifo with 12 points; with most of their points scored in the first half.
