GIRLS SOCCER: McConnellsburg 4, Everett 1. The McConnellsburg Lady Spartans (9-2, 6-1 ICC-S) hosted the Everett Lady Warriors in a cross-conference matchup on September 24th and from the beginning established control of the game, showcasing dominance that carried them to a decisive home victory.
First half: Gemma Gordon set the tone by making a steal and scoring in the first minute of play. After 32 minutes, Serenity Rengifo capitalized on a deflected ball and scored unassisted for the second goal, resulting in a halftime score of 2-0 for the Spartans. Second half: eleven minutes in, Everett scored from short range, narrowing the gap. However, the Spartans responded quickly one minute later when Margaret McKelvy connected on a short kick for the third team goal. With 16 minutes remaining, Laynee Hendershot added an unassisted short goal, securing a commanding 4-1 Spartan lead and final score.

McConnellsburg Continues Shutouts in Victory Over Everett
Boys Soccer: McConnellsburg 4, Everett 0: On September 24th, McConnellsburg (12-0, 5-0 ICC-E) hosted Everett in a non-conference match, pulling away in the second half for a shutout win.
The opening half was balanced, with both teams creating several notable opportunities yet remaining scoreless due to effective goalkeeping on each side. During the second half, play continued with rain for ten minutes. McConnellsburg increased their offensive pressure. Seventeen minutes into the half, Grady Shives capitalized on a breakaway to net the first goal. With six minutes left, Brayden Ramsey scored the team’s second goal following a corner kick from Jackson Skiles. Immediately after Everett’s restart, Hoyt Glenn converted from just inside half field, effortlessly sending an arching shot into the net after the Everett goalkeeper advanced, leaving the goal unguarded. Shortly thereafter, with four minutes remaining, Jake Hann executed a free kick from over 30 yards out, resulting in the Spartans’ fourth and final goal.
Offensively, McConnellsburg benefited from goals by Shives, Ramsey, Glenn, and Hann. Senior goalkeeper Reese Alexander registered his sixth shutout of the season, earning a game ball for surpassing the Spartans’ all-time record for career soccer shutouts.
