GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Trojans place 3rd at Bloser: Chambersburg placed 3 runners in the top 22 and ended up third in the team standings in the Ben Bloser Invitational at Big Spring on Saturday.
The top three Trojans were Natalie Quinn in 9th place in 19:16.8, Lillian Spohn in 21st in 20:03.9 and Brook Boone in 22nd in 20:05.6.
Chambersburg coach Chris Monheim said, “I was very pleased with the girls today. Quinn, Spohn and Boone were outstanding in our top 3 spots today and our depth was solid. Quinn’s time was one of the five fastest Chambersburg times on that course.”
Also for the Trojans, Arrabelle Rife (57th, 21:31.2) and Kaylie Savage (61st, 21:34.8) also figured in the scoring, while Maggie Holtry (78th, 22:20.5) and Isabel Clark (80th, 22:23.7) were the Trojans’ next two finishers..
Among area girls competitors, Greencastle-Antrim’s Avery Russell placed 37th with a time of 20:46.5, while Shippensburg’s River Burrows was 72nd in 22:05.4.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Chambersburg is 7th at Bloser: The Trojans were not at full strength Saturday for the Ben Bloser Invitational at Big Spring and placed 7th in the team standings.
“We have a couple of guys still feeling sick this week, and they didn’t run their best race today in the sun,” Chambersburg coach Jim Boyer said.
Julian Clark was the top finisher for the Trojans, taking 10th in 16:31.5.
Boyer said, “Clark ran well in the front pack, but faded in the last mile from the top five to 10th.”
Also for Chambersburg, Cole Lehman was 44th (17:24.5), Aiden Alleman was 56th (17:33.6), Tobias Willson was 72nd (17:57.6), Isaac Stepan placed 107th (18:43.1) and Gavin Wenger placed 121st (19:13.6).
Greencastle-ANtrim’s Noah Parks was 22nd in 16:45.6, and teammate Logan Bohrer took 57th in 17:34.6. For Shippensburg, Rylan Asper took 31st in 16:58.1.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Chambersburg 3, Muhlenburg 0: The Trojans made a long trip to the Reading area, but came home with a comfortable non-league victor over the Muhls on Saturday morning,, taing games of 25-14, 25-12 and 25-11.
“Muhlenburg fought hard, but we simply out-matched them,” Chambersburg coach Ty Frelin said. “It was a good opportunity to get everyone some significant playing time.”
The Trojans (6-4) got good play at the net from Nizaya Hawkins, who had 3 blocks and 5 kills. Ava Zeigler (12) and Allison Bert (8) led in assists, whil eKasey Moser and Lexi Poe had 4 kills each.
Poe (12), Kaylie Stull (11) and Kylee Perry (80 led in digs, wile the service point leaders were Stull (10, 3 aces), Natalie Miller (8) and Zeigler (8).
