GIRLS SOCCER
Chambersburg 2, Central Dauphin 1: The Trojans had not beaten the Rams for at least the last 8 years, but that changed Tuesday afternoon in Colonial Park in a Mid Penn Commonwealth contest.
Chambersburg (5-3, 3-2 MPC), which has won 3 straight games, got on the scoreboard quickly. Just two minutes into the game, Brooke Bidniuk flicked a header behind her with her back to goal and Bree Paetow ran behind the defense and knocked in the goal.
“We held on and managed to create more chances until halftime,” Trojan coach Paul Unruh said. “Our organization behind the ball, combined with composed buildup play, effectively took the sting out of the game.”
Central Dauphin equalized midway through the second half after a nice through pass.
But with about 6 minutes left, Chambersburg’s Kadence Decker ripped a shot that rebounded off the Rams’ goalkeeper’s hands and Paetow was there to stick the rebound into the net.
Unruh said, “The character of the team came though when we got tied up and fought back. It was truly a coordinated team victory.”
BOYS SOCCER
Central Dauphin 2, Chambersburg 1, OT: The Trojans nearly hung on to upset the Rams and remain unbeaten, but a CD goal with 2 minutes to go in regulation tied it up 1-1, then Central Dauphin got the game-winner in the 1st overtime of a Mid Penn Commonwealth game at Trojan Stadium on Tuesday night.
“They were probably the best team we’ve faced all season, so they were on the front foot for most of the game,” Chambersburg coach Corey Grove said. “We gave ourselves a chance; just fell a bit short.”
Edwin Ramirez Morales popped in an unassisted goal for the Trojans (5-1-3, 3-1-1 MPC).
Grove said, “Edwin had another fantastic game and is proving to be one of the best players in the district.”
CD (4-2-1) led in shots (11-7) and corner kicks (5-2). Chambersburg goalkeeper Tyson Shanholtz made 3 saves.
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Chambersburg 15, Central Dauphin East 50: The Panthers did not send any runners to a Mid Penn Commonwealth meet on Tuesday at the Tim Cook Memorial Course, so the Trojans had a pressure-free day.
“The girls ran the race as a workout and they did exactly what I asked them to do,” Chambersburg coach Chris Monheim said. “I’m hoping this will translate into some good performances on Saturday (at the Ben Bloser Invitational).”
The top seven runners for the Trojans (4-0, 4-0 MPC) were Natalie Quinn (23:15), Brook Boone (23:15), Lillian Spohn (23:15), Kaylie Savage (23.15), Bella Rife (23:15), Maggie Holtry (23:53) and Isabel Clark (23:53).
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Chambersburg 15, Central Dauphin East 50: The Trojans had little trouble downing the Panthers — who had only 2 runners compete — in a Mid Penn Commonwealth meet on Tuesday at the Tim Cook Memorial Course.
Chambersburg coach Jim Boyer said, “We had a couple of guys out sick today, and Tobias Willson and Gavin Wenger took the chance to finish fifth and sixth. The guys raced it as a workout in a few packs and worked well to stay bunched throughout.”
Julian Clark (17:05) and Cole Lehman (18:06) went 1-2 for the Trojans (3-1, 3-1 MPC), followed by the 2 runners from East.
Chambersburg’s next six runners were Willson (19:10), Wenger (19:12), Aaron Goshorn (19:16), Aden Goshorn (19:17) and Brian Morales (19:25).
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

The scores were 25-15, 26-24, 25-23 and 25-17.
“This was a very good match,” Chambersburg coach Ty Frelin said. “We were a few unforced errors away from going to the fifth set, and then who knows what may have happened.”
Kasey Moser led in digs with 20 for the Trojans (5-3, 2-3 MPC), and added a team-high 10 kills and 7 service points. Nizaya Hawkins came up with 10 points (2 aces), 6 blocks and 6 kills.
Lexi Poe had the most points with 10 (1 ace), and added 11 digs. Kaylie Stull had 18 digs, Ava Zeigler posted 26 assists, Riley Cramer blocked 4 shots and Olivia Shearer had 7 kills.
Frelin said, “State College is a solid, well-disciplined team. They served extremely well and they have a tremendous outside hitter that we had trouble stopping. But all in all, we played well.”
