Austin Luckenbach hit two home runs and drove in four as Greencastle International All Stars 11/12 defeated Newville 13-3 on Monday. Luckenbach homered in the first and third innings.
Grayson Booher struck out 10 batters on the day. The righty also allowed seven hits, three runs over five innings, and no walks.
Newville scored in the top of the first on an RBI single by Brody Sennett, giving Newville a 1-0 lead.
Greencastle erupted for six runs on six hits to take the lead, 6-1. Greer Barkdoll led off with a walk, Brinx Bonillas doubled, then Eathen Allen doubled, scoring Barkdoll and Bonillas to give Greencastle a 2-1 lead. Brady Swain singled to put Greencastle up 3-1. Ryan Cordell homered to make it 5-1, and two pitches later, Luckenbach homered to give Greencastle a 6-1 lead.
Luckenbach then belted his second home run of the night, a three-run homer in the bottom of the third to put Greencastle up 9-1.
After Newville scored two runs in the top of the fourth, Brinx Bonillas hit a two-run double to put Greencastle up 11-3.
Back-to-back doubles by Brady Swain and Kohen Mann made it 12-3 in the bottom of the fifth. Brody Sprague ended it with a run-producing single to give Greencastle its third straight win via the 10-run rule.
Greencastle collected 15 hits in the game, ten of which were for extra bases with seven doubles and three homers. Austin Luckenbach went 3 for 3 with two home runs and four RBI. Brinx Bonillas, Brady Swain, Ryan Cordell, and Grayson Booher each had two hits.
Greencastle has outscored opponents 38-6 and collected 42 hits over three games.
Greencastle’s next game is against Shippensburg at Newville on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on Mid Penn Broadcasting.
