GREENCASTLE — The Greencastle-Antrim softball team will have four at-bats left to try to overcome a 3-run deficit when the Blue Devils and Red Land try to finish their District 3 Class 5A semifinal game Wednesday.
The game was suspended by a persistent rain after the Patriots had batted in the top of the fourth. Red Land holds a 5-2 lead.
The game is scheduled to be resumed Wednesday at 4:30 at G-A, but the forecast looks pretty dismal. If the game is delayed until Thursday, that will push the championship game — the winner vs. Solanco (21-1) — to a Friday date with site and time TBA.
The Patriots (17-3) tallied 3 runs in the top of the fourth and got 2 more in the fourth. The Blue Devils (18-2) scored a run in the first and another in the third. Meadow Gambacurta knocked in both runs, the first on a booming double to the bottom of the fence in center and the second on a fielder’s choice grounder to third base.
