Fannett-Metal Shuts Out Everett

Fannett- Metal hosted Everett in an ICC Conference match up and shut out the Warriors 7-0.

Fannett-Metal Senior Pitcher Landon  Arnold held the Warriors to only two hits in 6.1 innings.  He reached his pitch limit with one out in the 7th Inning.  76 of his pitches went for strikes.  He had 10 strikeouts and 2 walks in a dominating performance.  Senior Wade Appleby got the final two outs on 9 pitches with 1 K.

The Warriors used three pitchers in the game.   Cornell started and took the loss.

Offensively the Tigers scored five runs in the second inning.  Adam Hammond got things started with a single.  He reached second on an errant throw from the 3rd baseman on Ayden Ryder’s fielder choice.  Noah Naugle’s short fly ball to center dropped in, and Hammond scored when the CF’s throw sailed out of play.  Logan Hall walked to load the bases.  Courtesy Runner Kristan Koser scored on Tucker Seibert’s RBI single.  Jake Coffman’s RBI sacrifice fly scored Hall, and Seibert would score on a passed ball to make it 5-0.  “We capitalized on some of their mistakes in that inning to build a comfortable lead”, Coffman said.

The Tigers extended the lead in the 3rd with some good baserunning.  With one out, Broc Hostler and Ayden Ryder were both hit by pitches.  A double steal moved both runners up.  Hostler scored on Noah Naugle’s RBI groundout.  Courtesy Runner Kristan Koser scored on a passed ball to make it 7-0.  That would be all the run support Arnold would need as the Tiger’s  defense played solid as well to preserve the shutout victory.

The Tigers will be on the road at Claysburg-Kimmel in Friday at 6:00.
