Hats off to the Shalom Lady Flames on their incredible run to the 2025 District 3 AA championship game!
While the final outcome wasn’t what they had hoped for—a 55-39 loss to the York Catholic Lady Irish—the Flames fought hard from start to finish. In the end, the Irish’s strong outside shooting in the second half, combined with the Flames’ turnovers, proved too much to overcome on Wednesday afternoon at the Giant Center in Hershey, PA.
The Flames struck first and played a tough first half, trailing by just one point at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter remained a defensive battle, ending in a 5-5 draw. A late three-pointer by the Flames brought them within one at halftime, despite some missed opportunities that could have given them a comfortable lead.
Coming out of the locker room, York Catholic went on a run, stretching their lead to 12 by the end of the third quarter. The Flames showed resilience, cutting the deficit to seven midway through the fourth, but a 6-0 Irish run sealed the game.
Emily Rebok led the Flames with 13 points in another stellar performance. Though the stats are still being finalized, Julianna Myers had a standout game on the boards against a taller Irish team. Juniors Addison Adams and Maya Lehman contributed 10 and 6 points, respectively. Kaitlyn Thomas played excellent defense against York Catholic’s sophomore Jayden Brennen, who finished with 10 points and likely led the game in rebounds. Freshman Sydney Moore had a solid game, adding 4 points, while fellow freshman Chloe Diller helped keep the score close with some late free throws, going 3-for-4 in the fourth quarter.
Next up, the Lady Flames will travel to Philadelphia on Friday, March 7, to take on the Lady Rockets from the Science Leadership Academy at Beeber. Stay tuned for details!
