3 area teams receive District 3 basketball pairings

The District 3 basketball playoffs begin next week and three teams from Franklin County will be competing.

— In Boys Class 6A, Chambersburg secured the No. 4 seed and will have a bye in the first round. The Trojans (17-5) will host a quarterfinal game on Friday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. They will play the winner of Tuesday’s first-round game between No. 5 Central Dauphin (16-6) vs. No. 12 Dallastown (13-9).

— In Boys 5A, Greencastle-Antrim claimed the No. 4 seed with an 18-5 record. The Blue Devils will host No. 13 Lower Dauphin (12-10) on Monday at 7 p.m. in a first-round game. The winner will play Thursday, Feb. 22 in the quarterfinals against the winner of No. 5 Manheim Central (18-5) vs. No. 12 Gettysburg (16-6) at the home of the higher seed.

— Greencastle also qualified in Class 5A girls, and its 15-6 record earned the No. 6 seed. The Blue Devils will play a first-round game at home on Tuesday vs. the No. 11 seed, Red Land (11-11) at 7 p.m. The winner plays in Friday’s quarterfinals against the winner of No. 3 Northern York (22-1) vs. No. 14 Milton Hershey (9-13), at the home of the higher seed.

5A boys semifinals are Monday, Feb. 26 and 6A boys and 5A girls semifinals are Tuesday, Feb. 27. Finals are Thursday, Feb. 29 for boys 5A and Friday, March 1 for 6A boys and 5A girls.
