Trojan boys claim 1st-ever Commonwealth swim crown

Chambersburg 79, Mifflin County 7: The Trojans had little trouble taking care of business Tuesday afternoon in a win over the Huskies, a victory that wrapped up the championship of the Mid Penn Commonwealth Division.

It was Chambersburg’s first-ever boys swim title in the Commonwealth.

“The boys work so hard and this is well-deserved,” Trojan coach had White said. “Going into the season, I thought we had a really good shot at it. It’s fun to see it all come to fruition.

“This is just one of the many goals the team has this season and we are on a roll heading into our championship meets starting next week (with the Mid Penn meet).”

Griffin Adamek and Colby Evans had big meets for Chambersburg (8-0, 6-0 MPC). Adamek won the 200 IM (2:28.04) and 100 butterfly (1:06.60) and Evans picked up wins in the 50 free (24.57) and 100 free (53.70).

The 200 medley relay team of Adamek, Keagan Myers, Evans and Eugene Covington won in 2:07.73, the 200 free relay team of Covington, Keagan Myers, Parker Miller and Levi Uglow won in 1:49.80 and Myers finished first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:18.82.

White said, “Colby Evans had a fantastic 100 free and will most likely qualify for Mid Penns with that race.”

GIRLS SWIMMING
Chambersburg 119, Mifflin County 38: The Trojans won all 11 events to swamp the Huskies in a Mid Penn Commonwealth meet Tuesday afternoon in Lewistown.

Ava Grove

Individual double winners for Chambersburg (5-3, 3-3 MPC) included Ava Grove in the 200 IM (2:31.90) and 100 fly (1:11.39) and Lisa Bisconti in the 50 free (30.42) and 100 breaststroke (1:25.16).

Also providing wins were Brooke Reichelderfer in the 200 free (2:25.29), Addi Zimmerman in the 100 free (1:06.47), Ella Boal in the 500 free (6:36.47) and Sarah Vessah in the 100 breaststroke (1:18.86).

“It was great to see the girls win a of of close races,” Trojan coach Hali Cormany said. “They were excited to race today. Swims of the meet were Ella and Ashton (Lucas) in the 500 free, as well as Ava’s 200 IM.”

All 3 Trojan relays also placed first. The 200 medley relay (2:15.38) included Vessah, Grove, Reichelderfer and Zimmerman), the 200 free team (2:13.21) had Zimmerman, Monica Kemerer, Zoe Dereef and Boal, and the 400 free team (4:27.88) consisted of Reichelderfer, Zimmerman, Vessah and Grove.
