BOYS BASKETBALL
Greencastle-Antrim 51, Gettysburg 49, OT: The Blue Devils clinched at least a tie for the Mid Penn Colonial Division championship by holding off the Warriors in overtime on Tuesday night on the home court.
Greencastle (15-3, 11-1 MPC) must win one of their final two league games (home vs. Waynesboro on Friday, or at Shippensburg on Feb. 9) to claim the crown outright.
Gettysburg (14-5, 10-3 MPC) almost made G-A pay dearly for a spate of turnovers down the stretch in regulation. A fast break layup by Surzano Solomon gave Greencastle a 47-39 lead with just over two minutes left, but the Warriors scored the final 8 points of the game tie it.
A falling, off-balance shot by Josh Herr with 0:11 left somehow banked in to the tie the game.
“We had a bunch of turnovers — we have to take care of the ball better,” G-A coach Todd Stephens said. “They were playing physical on the ball, but we needed to be a little more physical with the ball.”
In overtime, Eli Sterling fed Conner Wright with a pass on a fast break to give the Blue Devils the lead, then Sterling made a tough layup to make it 51-47. Two foul shots by Herr got Gettysburg back to within 2 points with 0:47 left.
Logan Alvey had two foul shots with 0:15 left that could have iced it for G-A, but he missed both. Fortunately, Herr’s 3-pointer from the top of the key hit the back rim and Greencastle survived.
The Blue Devils trailed 15-8 early in the second period, but went on a 13-0 run, led by two threes by Jordan Hunt. By halftime, G-A led 26-21.
Early in the fourth, a 3-pointer by Alvey gave Greencastle a 42-30 lead, but the Warriors outscored the Devils 17-5 the rest of the way.
Wright paced Greencastle with 16 points, ALvey had 11 and Hunt 9. Herr led Gettysburg with 24 points and Brady Wagner added 14.
Stephens said, “We made some tough plays, but the guys were resilient, and did what we had to do. A win is a win.”

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Greencastle-Antrim 46, Gettysburg 34: The Warriors played a box-and-one defense with plenty of help against Haley Noblit, and held her to 5 points, but the rest of the Blue Devils came through to earn a Mid Penn Colonial victory on the road Tuesday night.
Noblit had a season-low 5 points, but Eva Martin tallied 17 points (4-for-8 on 3’s and 5-for-6 at the foul line), and Kylie Kerns had 9 to help make up the difference.
Gettysburg (4-15) hit 8 threes, but G-A (13-5, 9-3 MPC) made 10 — from 4 different players — on 27 attempts to cancel that advantage.
Late in the second period, Meadow Gambacurta hit a pair of 3-pointers and Callie Izer hit one to give G-A the lead for good.
Ainsley Swindell gabbed 13 rebounds and Shaina Overcash had 6 boards for Greencastle.
