G-A roundup: Blue Devils hammer ‘Boro in baseball

Greencastle-Antrim 10, Waynesboro 3: The Blue Devils led the whole way, but a five-run sixth inning sealed the deal in a Mid Penn Colonial victory over the Indians on Saturday afternoon at home.

“It was a good, solid win. We executed well and played good defense,” G-A coach Eric Shaner said.

The Blue Devils (12-4, 8-4 MPC), winners of 7 straight games, got 5 innings of 2-hit ball from starter Landon Huth, who walked 4, but struck out 10. Adam Horst threw 2 innings of 2-hit ball to earn a save.

Shaner said, “Landon lost the strike zone in the second inning, but he fought out of it and got his rhythm back in his last three innings.”

For Greencastle, Ryan Farrow was 2-for-3 and drove in 3 runs, Austin Wyand was 2-for-3 with a double and 2 runs, Ethan Ford was 2-for-3 with an RBI, Carter McCauley hit a triple and had 2 runs, 2 RBIs and 2 walks, Aidan Grudzinski had a hit, 2 runs and an RBI and Carter Reid hit a single and scored.

For Waynesboro (8-9, 4-8 MPC), Ethan Hotchkiss took the loss.
