Chambersburg 3, Carlisle 0: The Trojans waited until early in the second half to score, but then put in three goals in a seven-minute span to upend the Herd in a Mid Penn Commonwealth game Tuesday night at Trojan Stadium.
“I was especially pleased with the way we started the game — high energy and we moved the ball around the field with confidence,” Chambersburg coach Corey Grove said.
Aaron Maynard opened the scoring after a feed from Garrick Hill. Emmanuel Hewitt then assisted on the last two goals — a minute apart — scored by Omario Duncan and Tanner Luther. It was Duncan’s team-leading seventh goal and the first for Luther.
Grove said, “Our focus tonight was to be confident on the ball, especially in the middle of the field, and I thought for the most part, we did that.
“A big takeaway is that this was our third straight shutout. That’s something we need to build upon defensively if we want to compete with the best in the district.”
The Trojans (6-2-1, 5-1 MPC) out-shot Carlisle 12-9 and led in corners, 6-2.
