Eight players scored goals for the Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers in their 13-0 rout of New Life Christian Tuesday in a Mason-Dixon Christian Conference boys soccer game.
The Blazers (11-1, 9-0 MDCC) claimed a 6-0 halftime lead as six different players scored. Joel Vandersleen opened the scoring eight minutes in the game by blasting in a shot from in front of the goal on a feed from Kenneth Hott. Vandersleen added a pair of second-half goals.
“Joel Vandersleen stepped up tonight with a big game, scoring his first ever hat trick,” CVCS coach Stan Hott said.
Elijah Randolph, Josh Rowe, Ryan Winters, Jimmy Hong and Eli Black also directed in first-half goals for the Blazers. In the second half, Rowe, YeGeon Choi (twice), Hong and Felix Kauffeldt joined Vandersleen in the scoring column.
Hott contributed six assists. Also providing assists were Hong, Noah Randolph, Nathan Statler, Blaine Minnier, Winters, Jack Gabler and Triston Horn.
The Blazers outshot New Life 40-12 and led 5-0 in corner kicks. Goalies Black and Gabler combined for nine saves for the Blazers, who have eight shutouts this season.
