Kaydee Beckenbaugh
WEST YORK — Shippensburg’s Kaydee Beckenbaugh made a bit of a comeback on Saturday at the District 3 Class 3A girls golf championships.
Her 1-over par 73 was not enough to overtake the first-day leader and champion, Bryn Krosse of Dallastown, but it did move Beckenbaugh up into fourth place and advanced her to the PIAA Championships (Oct. 19-20 at Penn State) for the second straight year.
After shooting an 80 on Thursday, Beckenbaugh improved 7 strokes at Honey Run Golf Club. Her round of 38-35 included four birdies — Nos. 5, 6, 10 and 14.
Abby Byers of Waynesboro made it to the final round with an 85 Thursday, but her Saturday round of 88 caused her to miss the qualifying cut by 3 strokes. She shot nines of 44-41.
The other area player who competed Saturday was the Greyhounds’ Kaden Ramsey. He followed his first-round 78 with an 80 on Saturday (39-41, birdie on No. 8), which left him just 2 strokes outside of the cut line.
