Greencastle-Antrim 5, James Buchanan 0: The Blue Devils picked up a shutout victory over the Rockets in a non-league game played in Mercersburg on Monday evening.
G-A senior captain Biruk Facchina said, “We woke up in the second half, perservered, and got the job done.”
Mason DeVaughn scored a pair of goals for Greencastle (7-3-1), and assisted on another goal.
Other goal scorers were Logan Andou, Caleb Noll and Bryce Wilson.
Greencastle-Antrim 2, Chambersburg 0: For the second time this season, the Blue Devils defeated the Trojans in a Mid Penn Colonial game, played Monday night at Kaley Field.
“It was a great game tonight,” G-A coach Keara Allshouse said. “The defense and midfield shut down any possible back post shots from them, and the entire team came to play. The midfield — (Serenity) Goodman, (Caroline) Barnes and (Emily) Fowler showed a lot of hustle tonight and (Gabby) Burns put on constant pressure as a high defender.”
Greencastle (6-3, 5-2 MPC) got on the board first on a goal by Rowan Shubert. Natalie Medina tacked on the second goal, also unassisted.
Allshouse said, “We put on constant controlled pressure the whole game and had two incredible goals. The girls worked a lot last week on breaking down our steps and reading angles, and that focus paid off today.”
The Trojans are 3-5-2 (3-2-2 MPC).
