BOILING SPRINGS — Greencastle-Antrim’s football team recovered nicely from a blowout loss last week by dispensing a blowout win Friday night.
The victim was Boiling Springs (0-5, 0-2 MPC), which took a 45-7 beatdown from the Blue Devils in a Mid Penn Colonial game at Ecker Field.

Greencastle (2-3, 1-1 MPC) led 27-0 after just one quarter.
“Everything worked well tonight,” G-A coach Jason Thurston said. “We executed well and got a lot of kids in the game.”
Both sides of the ball were productive. The offense rolled up 145 yards on the ground and 110 in the air for a 255-yard total, as well as scoring four touchdowns.
But the defense had a say, too. Luke Hull picked off a pass and ran it back 39 yards to make it 13-0, and Ryan Schick picked up a Bubblers’ fumble at the opponent’s 12-yard line and ran it in for a score.
“The defense came up with 14 points for us,” Thurston said, “which was very nice. We were in their backfield a lot tonight — I think we combined for more than 10 tackles for loss and sacks.”
Spencer Long tallied a pair of TD runs in the first quarter, the first for 9 yards and the second for 3. Wyatt Hull scored on a 34-yard pass from Gavin Logsdon and Landon Kagarise run one in from 6 yards out. Ben Witmer also kicked a 37-yard field goal in the fourth.
“The offensive line had one starter out, but we had some other kids play and they did well,” Thurston said. “The kids came in with the right mindset tonight and did really well.”
Kagarise was the leading ballcarrier, with 83 yards on 5 carries. Logsdon was 6-for-8 for 85 yards and Wyatt Hull had 2 catches for 57 yards.
On defense, Elijah Ambrose made his presence felt, making 9 tackles, including 3 for a loss. Shick had a pair of fumble recoveries, Braden Eckert made 6 tackles and Zachary Russell had 5 tackles, including one for a loss and a sack.
The Blue Devils host West Perry on Friday night, 7 p.m.
