Mechanicsburg 3, Chambersburg 2: The Mid Penn Commonwealth opponents split the first 4 games evenly, but the Wildcats dominated the fifth, 15-5, to send the Trojans to a defeat on the road Thursday night.

“This was a back-and-forth match all night and a match filled with big runs for both teams,” Chambersburg coach Ty Frelin said. “Mechanicsburg is a solid team and they never take a play off. We played with a lot of heart and never gave up. Would’ve been a nice match to win, but it just didn’t go our way.”
The Trojans (4-4, 2-3 MPC), who lost their third straight, took game 1 25-14. Mechanicsburg then won the next two, 25-19 and 25-14 before Chambersburg rallied to take game 4, 25-21.
Kasey Moser led the Trojans in service points with 10, followed by Marlie Newman (8) and Grace Myers (7). Kylee Perry was the team leader in assists (16) and digs (18) and added 7 kills.
Olivia Shearer led in kills with 9 and Ayla Whiteley had 7. Whiteley and Shearer each posted a pair of blocks. Myers contributed 14 assists, Moser had 14 digs, as did Lexi Poe.

GIRLS TENNIS
Chambersburg 4, Mifflin County 1: The Trojans dominated in the four matches they won, and captured a Mid Penn Commonwealth victory over the Huskies in Lewistown on Thursday afternoon.
Chambersburg (7-4, 4-2 MPC) was missing two starters but made it work.
In doubles, Gretta Hill and Nina Kuchar combined to win their No. 1 match, 6-0, 6-0. Kendall Temchuck and Callie Yardley-Gontz prevailed in two sets, 6-1, 6-2.
In singles, Leah Wadel earned a 6-0, 6-3 decision over Mifflin County’s Maddy Clinard at No. 1, and Olivia Keller picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win over MC’s Hana Patel.
In a close match at No. 2, the Huskies’ Marcella McKee pulled out a 4-6, 6-4 (10-7) tiebreaker win over Aria Barberio.

FIELD HOCKEY
Chambersburg 1, East Pennsboro 1: The Trojans gave up a breakaway goal in the fourth quarter and had to settle for a draw in a Mid Penn Colonial game in Enola against the Panthers on Thursday night.
Reagan Barrett scored unassisted to put Chambersburg (3-4-2, 3-1-2 MPC) ahead in the first quarter, but Jillian Thomas evened the score for East Pennsboro.
“Both teams had a great showing lsat night,” Trojan coach Rachael Sanders said. “This division is truly anyone’s — every team has been showing up, competing hard and putting in the work.”
