Chambersburg 2, Cumberland Valley 1: The Trojans made the trip to New Kingstown well worth it Wednesday night by handing the Eagles a Mid Penn Commonwealth shutout defeat.

“We played fantastic from the start, which is great because that has been a bit of an issue for us this season,” Chambersburg coach Marc Furfaro said. “We played with the intensity I wanted and were finding our patterns like we’ve worked on. It was very refreshing to see as a coach.”
In the 6th minute, Deklin Shank put the Trojans (4-3, 1-2 MPC) on the board after a pass from Brandon Arana. It stayed that way until Arana scored an insurance goal in the 60th minute, with the assist going to Mason Schenzel.
Furfaro said, “Across the board, we were amazing, no weak spots on the field, but Brandon Arana really stood out tonight. And Brayden Shoop came up big in goal a couple of times in the second half.”
Shoop was credited with 5 saves in the team’s third shutout of the season. CV is 1-7-2.

Cumberland Valley 3, Chambersburg 0: The Eagles remained unbeaten by taking a win over the Trojans in a Mid Penn Commonwealth game at Trojan Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Trojans, who had a 2-game win streak stopped, are 3-5 (1-4 MPC). The Eagles are 8-0-1 (5-0 MPC).
Chambersburg coach Paul Unruh said, “It was a physical, scrappy game. They scored off a loose ball 10 minutes in, then we got locked in for the rest of the half and had five quality chances to tie it. They scored on a corner that deflected off one of our players, and scored off a corner with 2 minutes left.
“Our growth is evident. Our attacking is sharper and our defending is more organized. If we take this form into our next games, we’ll get the results we want. CV is an opponent of the highest quality.”
Unruh said that goalkeeper Ashley Mitchell made 5 saves and that Adelyn Walter “played some very tough minutes.”

Chambersburg 5, Northern York 0: The Trojans faced the Polar Bears on Wednesday afternoon in a non-league match, and were victorious in all five matches in straight sets.
Chambersburg’s Leah Wadel opened with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles, followed by a 6-1, 6-1 victory by Charlie Kalathas at No. 2 and Olivia Keller took a 6-2, 7-5 verdict at No. 3 singles.
The Trojans also dominated in doubles. Gretta Hill and Nina Kuchar prevailed 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1, and Sophie Keller and Kendall Temchack combined for a 6-0, 6-1 win.
Chambersburg snapped a 2-match losing streak and raised its record to 6-4.
