Chambersburg 7, Waynesboro 0: The Trojans had their highest scoring production of the season in a Mid Penn Colonial victory over the Maidens on the road Monday afternoon.

Chambersburg (2-4-1, 2-1-1 MPC) had five different players score, with Reagan Barrett and Josey Snavely totaling two goals each. Barrett’s first goal was a rebound off a defender’s stick and the second was assisted by Ella Sollenberger. One of Snavely’s goals was assisted by Addy Brubaker.
Other scorers were Libby Leonard, Emme Vandevander and Natalie Fitz. Leonard knocked in a loose ball near the goal, Vandevander beat the goalie one-on-one and Fitz closed the scoring after a pass from the baseline by Leonard.
“We had a strong offensive performance and a shutout for the defense,” Trojan coach Rachael Sanders said. “I was really proud of the offensive momentum we showed today, especially having five players score. Our defense continues to do well holding the line and promoting plays from the backfield. Our unsung players were our midfielders, who worked hard to keep the ball moving into the offensive end.”
Goalie Lacey Mooney made one save to complete the shutout. For Waynesboro (2-5), goalie Ashley Willequer made an astounding 34 saves.
“She made some really phenomenal saves,” Sanders said.

GIRLS SOCCER
Chambersburg 1, Cedar Cliff 0: The Trojans broke through a scoreless standoff with the Colts to score the winning goal with 17 minutes left and capture a Mid Penn Commonwealth victory Monday night at Trojan Stadium.
Malia Cramer won a ball in the midfield and played a through ball that Claire Onomastico ran on to. She then cut inside to put the ball onto her left foot and slotted her shot into the corner of the goal.
“The girls came out aggressively and had the desire to fight for every ball,” Chambersburg coach Paul Unruh said. “Our attack was composed and coordinated and we stayed organized on defense when they came at us. We had multiple opportunities to score off corners.
“This win gives us a renewed belief in what we can accomplish.”
Trojan goalkeeper Ashley Mitchell made 5 saves to help preserve the shutout for Chambersburg (3-4, 1-3 MPC).
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Waynesboro 3, Chambersburg 2: The Trojans rallied from an 0-2 deficit to tie the non-league match 2-2, but the Maidens outlasted them in the fifth game, winning 19-17 to earn the win at CASHS Field House on Monday night.

Waynesboro (5-5) won the first two games, 25-14 and 25-18, but then Chambersburg (4-2) came back with 25-20 and 26-24 wins.
“We started out very flat tonight,” Trojan coach Ty Frelin said. “After losing the first two sets, we finally woke up and started to play with passion. Their middle hitter (Sarah Aldrich) was really good and we had a hard time stopping her.”
Kasey Moser produced 26 kills for Chambersburg, and added 3 blocks. Ayla Whiteley made 5 blocks and Kylee Perry had 3.
At the service line, Natalie Miller had 11 points and Perry and Lexi Poe each totaled 10. Olivia Shearer knocked down 11 kills, Perry had 23 assists and 14 digs, Grace Myers was credited with 19 assists and 14 digs, and Poe led with 18 digs.
Frelin said, “We started to get the momentum back, and the fifth set was back-and-forth, but they outlasted us. It was a really good match for both teams.”

Cumberland Valley at Chambersburg: The match was postponed and moved to Friday, Oct. 2 at 4 p.m. at Norlo Park.
