Trojans place 10th in big meet: The Ben Bloser Invitational at Big Spring on Saturday drew a ton of quality teams because the PIAA and District 3 Championships will be held at that venue later this fall, and the Trojans ran well to secure 10th place in the Class 3A girls race.
The winning team, Downingtown West, scored 171 points and Chambersburg had 393.
“I thought we had a real nice day to finish 10th out of 60 teams,” Trojan coach Chris Monheim said. “We fared well against the other District 3 teams, which is one of the things I was looking at. Natalie Quinn ran the best race of her career to finish fifth with a crazy fast time of 18:29.2 on a challenging course.”
Quinn crossed the line 30 seconds behind the winner.
Also scoring for Chambersburg were Lilly Spohn (41st, 20:00.0), Bella Rife (111th, 21:15.1), Kaylie Savage (123rd, 21:21.4) and Taliya Raber (125th, 21:23.4). Also running were Maggie Holtry (21:40.3) and Atlea Pereschuk (208th, 22:17.7).

Chambersburg takes 18th place : In a loaded field at the Ben Bloser Invitational at Big Spring on Saturday, the Trojans placed 18th of 59 teams without injured No. 1 runner Boston Vincenti.
“We were due to run some fast times after the tough courses and hot weather we’ve hit so far this season,” Chambersburg coach Jim Boyer said. “There was plenty of competition — today’s meet was probably the most competitive meet in the state so far this season, with about 180 teams total teams there. Our top five had an impressive 46-second spread between them.”
North Penn totaled 161 points to win the team title, while the Trojans scored 591. Shippensburg placed 31st.
For Chambersburg, Liam Coy was the first finisher, taking 70th place with a personal-best time of 17:08.2. He was followed by teammates Cole Lehman (90th, 17:13.0), Tobias Willson (134th, 17:35.5), Ben Lin (148th, 17:43.8) and Aaron Goshorn (154th, 17:49.0. Gavin Wenger (197th, 18:15.1) and Chase Goshorn (247th, 18:42.7) rounded out the team.
For Shippensburg, Rylan Asper produced a time of 16:01.2 to capture 7th place.
FIELD HOCKEY
Greencastle-Antrim 3, Chambersburg 2: A topsy-turvy Mid Penn Colonial matchup Saturday morning at Trojan Stadium ended up with a one-goal win for the Blue Devils over the Trojans.
Serenity Goodman scored after a pass from Sydnee Bosko with just 2 minutes on the clock to lift Greencastle (5-2, 4-1 MPC) to the win.
The Blue Devils took leads of 1-0 and 2-1 on goals by Natalie Medina. But Chambersburg (1-4-1, 1-1-1 MPC) fought back to forge a tie both times. Scoring was not provided for the Trojans.
