Okenie McLaughlin was again a big point scorer for Chambersburg (5-1, 5-1 MPC), taking first place in the long jump (21-9.75), triple jump (44-8.5) and high jump (5-6).

The 400 was swept by Daniel Souza-Casagrandi (50.63), Cobe Penick and Brock Chlebowski. The long jump was also a sweep, with Alex Cross and Brycen Purvis finishing behind McLaughlin.

Chambersburg coach Jim Boyer said, “The wind was more of a factor on the track and in the field than anticipated, but it allowed for quick 400 dash times.

“The 3200 guys were disappointed that we had to head to the bus with only 2 laps left (lightning), and the 4×400 guys were not happy, either. That just shows the kind of competitors we have on this team. We had already scored over 75 points to seal the wins. And we’re glad that our three 2-hour trips (Miflin County, State College, Altoona) are now done for the season.”

Also taking victories for the Trojans were Jon Dawe (110 hurdles, 300 hurdles) in 15.97 and 40.77 respectively, Boston Vincenti (800) in 2:05.29, Cole Lehman (1600) in 4:48.89, Noah Kish (43-5) in the shot put, and the 4×800 relay team of Vincenti, Isaac Stepan, Lehman and Julian Clark in 8:28.44.

GIRLS TRACK & FIELD
Chambersburg 109, Central Dauphin 27; Altoona 92, Chambersburg 44: Altoona proved to be a tough challenge and the Mountain Lions defeated the Trojans in a Mid Penn Commonwealth tri-meet with the Rams on Tuesday afternoon in Altoona.

Bree Paetow

“Altoona is the best team in the conference on the girls side, in my opinion, and I thought we at least gave them a decent challenge,” Chambersburg coach Chris Monheim said.

The Trojans (4-2, 4-2 MPC) finished first in just two events. Dechea Davis won the 100 in 12.74 and Bree Paetow won the 400 in 1:02.24.

Monheim said, “Paetow ran a gutsy race to hold on for a big victory. Marlee Jackson and Emily Mitchell had strong days in the hurdles. And I was pleased with our 4×100 team (Natalie Anderson, Davis, Jaxin Frazer, Abby Brubaker), which finishied just behind Altoona, in a season-best 49.41.”

Natalie Quinn placed second in the 800 and 1600 and other Trojan runners-up were Mikaila Collins (shot put), Ada Velazquez (pole vault), Kendall Temchak (javelin), Fi Richards (discus), Mitchell (100 H) and Davis (200).
