G-A roundup: Track & field teams sweep Warriors

GIRLS TRACK & FIELD
Greencastle-Antrim 76, Gettysburg 73: The Blue Devils rode a 22-point advantage in field events and a win in the final relay to overcome the Warriors in a season-opening Mid Penn Colonial event at Kaley Field on Tuersday afternoon.

Greencastle was outscored 53-34 on the track, but G-A did win the 4×100 and 4×400 relays, with the latter ensuring the team win. Kadence Abbott, Leilah Swain, Chloe Parks and Natalie Medina won the 4×400 in 4:25.9, while the 4×100 team of Aqueelah Hogue, Abbott, Emma Marx and Parks won in 52.3.

Abbott (100 in 13.4) and Ada Oberholzer (100 hurdles in 17.4) were Greencastle’s other track winners.

Parks came through with first-place finishes in the long jump (16-3) and triple jump (32-6) to help G-A outscore Gettysburg 42-20. Also taking wins were Alyssa Fowler (pole vault, 9-0), Bailey Hurley (discus, 119-3) and Alannah Coleman (javelin, 93-1).

BOYS TRACK & FIELD
Greencastle-Antrim 97, Gettysburg 52: The Blue Devils performed well in their season opener Tuesday aftrernoon at Kaley Field, blasting the Warriors by 45 points in a Mid Penn Colonial meet.

Logan Andou had a nice breakout day with wins in the 110 hurdles (15.8) and 300 hurdles (46.7), as well as running legs in the winning 4×100 (43.5) and 4×400 (3:40.5) relays.

Spencer Long also won a pair of sprints — 100 in 11.1 and 200 in 23.0; and Noah Parks picked up wins in the 800 (2:10.1) and 1600 (4:32.5) races.  The Blue Devils outscored Gettysburg 56-29 in track events.

The other members of the 4×100 team were Cort Bradley, Long and Jeremiah Amstutz, while Bradley, Adam Seylar and Amstutz were on the 4×400 squad.

In the field, Amstutz earned a win in the long jump (20-0), Jex McDowell took first in the high jump (5-6), Joe Lofton hit 10-6 to win the pole vault and Reece Plum took the discus in 121-06.
