Chbg. roundup: Swim teams earn wins over Greyhounds

GIRLS SWIMMING
Chambersburg 112, Shippensburg 58: The Trojans won their third consecutive meet by winning 8 of 11 events against the Greyhounds in a non-league meet at Chambersburg YMCA on Tuesday afternoon.

Calla Hoffman

Calla Hoffman and Audrey Keller each won a pair of individual events and raced on two winning relays. Hoffman won the 100 fly (1:10.36) and 100 backstroke (1:08.63) and Keller collected wins in the 200 IM (2:38.91) and 400 free (5:17.17).

Also taking wins was Ava Grove in the 100 breaststroke (1:26.00) for Chambersburg (4-7).

The 200 medley relay team of Hoffman, Grove, Brooke Reichelderfer and Emma Skultety won in a time of 2:12.46; the 200 free team of Reichelderfer, Addie Zimmerman, Grove and Keller posted a time of 2:01.24; and the 400 free team of Reichelderfer, Zimmerman, Keller and Hoffman hit 4:27.66.

For Shippensburg, Madalyn Kauffman finished first in the 200 free (2:23.98) and 100 free (1:02.27), while teammate Eliza Hockenberry won the 50 free (30.72).

BOYS SWIMMING
Chambersburg 115, Shippensburg 53: The Trojans continued their fine dual meet season by handing the Greyhounds a non-league defeat Tuesday afternoon at Chambersburg YMCA.

Chambersburg, now 10-1, took first place in all but one event.

Double winners in individual events were Ethan White in the 200 IM (2:15.48) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.10) and Alex Kaczmark in the 50 free (24.85) and 100 free (54.68).

Also taking victories were Cullen McGraw in the 200 free (2:06.23), Cristian Pong in the 100 fly (58.47) and Amir Tasker in the 400 free (4:28.82).

The relay swimmers for the Trojans, all three of which won, included Griffin Adamek, Levi Uglow, Pong and Kaczmark in the 200 medley (1:53.03); Kaczmark, Pong, Uglow and Xavier Covington in the 200 free (1:42.49); and Colby Evans, Adamek, Uglow and Covington in the 400 free (3:59.81).

Shippensburg earned a victory from Eushene Han in the 100 backstroke in 1:04.47.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
State College 52, Chambersburg 27: For the first time all year, the Trojans put two players in double figures, but it wasn’t enough to defeat the Little Lions in a Mid Penn Commonwealth game Tuesday night on the road.

Maddie Mills scored 11 points for Chambersburg (1-16, 0-12 MPC) — the 11th time this season she’s scored 10 or more points. She was joined by Ayla Whiteley, who produced 10 points.

The only other player to reach double figures this year was Claire Onomastico.

State College (11-5, 9-3 MPC) led 25-10 by halftime. The Little Lions got 11 points each from McKenna Whitehurst and Sienna Wilson.
