GIRLS BASKETBALL
Shippensburg 55, Greencastle-Antrim 47: The Greyhounds’ prowess at the free throw line and a slow start by the Blue Devils equaled a Mid Penn Colonial defeat on Monday night on the road.
Shippensburg (3-5, 2-3 MPC) went to the line 23 times in the fourth quarter alone and sank 17 of the shots. For the game, it hit 21 of 30.
Greencastle (3-6, 1-4 MPC) could not find the range early, although it finished with nine 3-pointers. But it was only 4-for-8 at the foul line.
“Facing a 2-3 zone all evening, we could not overcome a slow start in the first quarter,” G-A coach Scott McKeever said. “We shot 9-for-37 from 3-point range, which kept us in it, but was never enough to get over the hump and seize the lead.”
