FIELD HOCKEY
Greencastle-Antrim 7, Waynesboro 0: Natalie Medina put on a scoring display and the Blue Devils dispatched the Maidens in a Mid Penn Colonial game on Monday evening at Kaley Field.
Medina scored 5 goals for Greencastle (5-5, -5 MPC), and Camryn Guthrie and Caroline Barnes scored the others. It was the first varsity goal for Barnes.
“Barnes had her first goal and (Acacia) Long helped shut down many attacking drives by Waynesboro,” G-A coach Keara Allshouse said. “We worked together to keep control of the ball and Medina was always in the right spot to tap it in. The entire team played fantastic hockey tonight.”
Guthrie, Emily Fowler and Rowan Shubert were credited with assists, Rebecca Jones made 4 saves in the goal and Long and Maggie Spidel made defensive saves.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Greencastle-Antrim 3, Shippensburg 0: The Blue Devils had a quick match Monday evening, limiting the Greyhounds to just 34 points on the way to a Mid Penn Colonial victory at home. The scores were 25-8, 25-9 and 25-17.
Greencastle (10-0, 9-0 MPC) had as many aces as digs (18). Wren Roberts posted half of the digs (9), while the leaders in aces were Kylie Kerns, Kaitlyn Alvey and Kinzee Hudson with 4 each and Abby Eagler with 3.
The Blue Devils also put up a hitting percentage of .475 — Eagler had 11 kills, Kerns had 10 and Hayden Baer had 7.
Also for G-A, Alvey had 12 service points, Eagler had 10 points, Roberts scored 9 and Baer added 7. Alvey (15) and Kerns (14) split the assists and Jordyn Wagner blocked 2 shots.
