G-A roundup: Blue Devils blank JB in volleyball

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Greencastle-Antrim 3, James Buchanan 0: The Blue Devils made it tough for the Rockets, winning games of 25-16, 25-14 and 25-18 in a Mid Penn Colonial match at home on Tuesday evening.

Kylie Kerns produced 17 assists, 15 digs, 10 service points and 6 kills for Greencastle (3-0, 3-0 MPC), while Abby Eagler came up with 14 kills, 9 points, 2 aces and 8 digs.

Over the weekend, Eagler broke the school’s career mark for kills (it was held by Nakita Gearhart, 759) — she now has 822.

Also aiding the Blue Devil cause were Kinzee Hudson with 7 points and 14 digs, Wren Roberts with 8 kills, Jordyn Wagner with 7 kills, Hayleigh Lowe with 2 blocks and Kaitlyn Alvey with 17 assists.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Shippensburg 22, Greencastle-Antrim 34; Boiling Springs 27, Greencastle 28: The Greyhounds put 3 of the first 4 runners across the line to win a tri-meet in the Mid Penn Colonial meet at G-A on Tuesday afternoon.

Ship’s trio included Ryan Asper (1st, 16:48.0), Alex Williams (2rd, 17:48.4) and Kieran Dunkle (4th, 17:56.6). The Hounds also defeated the Bubblers, 20-35.

For the Blue Devils, Logan Bohrer was the runner-up, in a time of 17:32.1. Billy Bender placed 8th in 18:24.6 and Ryan Gearhart was 10th in 18:43.8.

G-A’s other two scorers were Abric Coy in 11th (18:47.3) and Colin Thomas in 16th (20:05.9).

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Shippensburg 20, Greencastle-Antrim 40; Boiling Springs 18, Greencastle 41: The Blue Devils’ girls team, with only three runners competing, fall at the hands of Ship and the Bubblers in a Mid Penn Colonial tri-met in Greencastle on Tuesday afternoon.

The Greencastle finishers included Sophia Denlinger in 5th place in 23:48.9, Monica Schemel in 10th place in 25:44.4 and Shalini Maharaj in 14th in 28:16.1.

The Greyhounds, who fell 22-33 to Boiling Springs, got a third place from River Burrows (22:45.4), a fourth from Evelyn Jones (23:48.3) and an 8th from Alexa Tysarczyk (24:53.1).

GIRLS SOCCER
Greencastle-Antrim 1, West Perry 0: The Blue Devils picked up their first victory of the season on Tuesday evening at Kaley Field, edging the Mustangs in a defensive Mid Penn Colonial game.

Callie Izer scored the game-winning goal for Greencastle (1-4, 1-2 MPC).
