GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Enos Yeager Invitational: Chambersburg hosted its annual season kickoff, the Enos Yeager Invitational, at the Tim Cook Memorial Course on Friday afternoon, with all the Franklin County school and several others competing on a 2.33-mile course.

Natalie Quinn

Carlisle’s Ava Bondy was the winner, finishing in 14:12.

Chambersburg’s Natalie Quinn was third in 15:30, Lilliam Spohn was fourth in 15:57. The Trojans had 5 other runners inside the top 20: Brook Boone (8th, 16:05), Kaylie Savage (9th, 16:28), Arrabella Rife (11th, 16:32), Tallya Raber (18th, 17:23) and Maggie Holtry (19th, 17:23).

Trojan coach Chris Monheim said, “We placed 11 of the top 30 and our time gaps were pretty small. Natalie Quinn had a huge performance and is a completely different runner than she was a year ago. Lillian Spohn was the top ninth grader to finish and she’s going to make a ton of noise.

“Our top five runners were all within 27 seconds of each other.”

Waynesboro had the No. 7 finisher, Morgan Jones (16:03); Greencastle-Antrim’s top runner was Avery Russell in 10th place (16:28); Shippensburg’s River Burrows was 14th (17:02), James Buchanan’s Kaitlyn Dean took 27th in 17:59, while Regan Kearns of Shalom Christian took 23rd in 17:38.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Enos Yeager Invitational: Chambersburg put all 5 of its scoring runners in the top 20 finishers when it began its season Friday afternoon for the Enos Yeager Invitational at the Tim Cook Memorial Course.

Julian Clark

The winner of the 2.33-mile event was Kolbin Heberlig of Carlisle in a time of 12:17.

For the Trojans, Julian Clark was the runner-up in a time of 12:20, and teammate Aiden Alleman was seventh in 12:45. In addition, Cole Lehman took 11th in 13:17, Boston Vincenti was 15th in 13:30, and Tobias Willson took 20th in 13:43.

Chambersburg coach Jim Boyer said, “Clark and Alleman gave us a solid 1-2 punch and we put seven in the top 30 to earn individual awards.

“While the meet wasn’t team scored, we would have finished second to Carlisle. They look to have a strong team and will likely serve as a regular rival for us through the season and postseason.”

Other local top finishers were Rylan Asper of Shippensburg (6th, 12:42); Devin Berger of Waynesboro (14th, 13:28); Greencastle-Antrim’s Logan Bohrer (18th, 13:36); and James Buchanan’s Isaac Diehl (19th, 13:39).
