Mid Penn announces spring all-star teams

The Mid Penn Conference announced its spring all-star and sportsmanship teams on Thursday.

Five area teams were cited for the Sportsmanship Awards, which are voted on by each division’s coaches. Chambersburg earned that award in three sports — baseball, softball and boys track & field, while James Buchanan won in two sports (softball, boys tennis).

Softball had the most area players selected for first-team all-star status, with eight. They included Chambersburg’s Bree Paetow and Karley Skultety in the Commonwealth Division, while in the Colonial Division, first-teamers were Caroline Logsdon, Meadow Gambacurta and Kiersten Swain of Greencastle-Antrim, Brooklyn Sanchez of JB, Shippensbug’s Addy Newton and Emma Bradley of Waynesboro.

Mark DeCarli of Greencastle was the division’s Coach of the Year.

Five baseball players earned first-team honors, all in the Colonial Division: Jake Miller and Jimmy Bell of James Buchanan, Carter McCauley of Greencastle, Ship’s Elijah Bailey and Waynesboro’s John Kahl.
