Broadfording put together a three-run fourth inning to break a tie and went on to defeat the Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers 11-5 Friday in a Mason Dixon Christian Conference semifinal playoff baseball game.
The game was 2-2 entering the fourth inning, but the Blazers hit two batters and walked two more to fuel the Broadfording rally. Three Blazer errors over the next two innings sealed their fate.
“We just made too many mistakes at key situations of the game,” Blazers coach Ed McBeth said. “I loved the effort, but it just wasn’t our day. We had a lot of hard-hit balls right at people. That’s baseball.”
For the Blazers (4-7-1), Gage Brookens was 2-for-4 with a triple, and Jensen Henninger was 3-for-4 with a double.
The Blazers play Heritage Monday in the MDCC consolation game at Hagerstown’s Meritus Park.
