Greencastle-Antrim 13, Bishop McDevitt 0: The Blue Devils played their last game of the regular season at home Saturday morning and produced a dominating non-league victory over the Crusaders in just 4.5 innings.
Greencastle is 17-2 and will be either the No. 1 of No. 2 seed in the District 3 Class 5A playoffs. G-A also will play in the Mid Penn Conference tournament next week. The Blue Devils will face the Capital Division champion (Trinity or Middletown) in a semifinal on Wednesday, with site and time to be determined.
G-A scored 3 runs in the first inning, 4 in the second and 6 in the third to wrap up the game early. That made it easier for pitcher Lydia Pryke, who picked up her third win of the season. She gave up only 3 hits and a walk, while striking out 5 McDevitt (7-10) batters.
The Blue Devils’ top 3 batters, Zhen Reuter, Carolina Logsdon and Meadow Gambacurta, each scored 3 runs. Logsdon was 3-for-4, Gambacurta drove in 3 runs and Kylie Kerns knocked in a pair of runs.
Kiersten Swain and Gambacurta rapped triples and Greencastle stole a total of 10 bases, led by 4 from Logsdon.
