Chambersburg roundup: Colts’ big inning trips Trojans

Cedar Cliff 12, Chambersburg 2: Leading 3-2 going into the bottom of the fifth inning Saturday morning, the Colts piled up 9 runs against the Trojans to end the game via the 10-run rule in a Mid Penn Commonwealth game.

Harrison Benedict started on the mound for Chambersburg (5-12, 3-11 MPC) and pitched 3 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on just 2 hits. Wyatt Martin pitched a clean fourth before division-leading Cedar Cliff put it away in the fifth.

The Trojans scored in the second inning. Keaton Barclay ripped a 1-out double and scored on a ground ball single to left by Brady Truett.

In the fifth, Chambersburg got to within 3-2 with another run. Brycen Murray led off with a base hit. Brady Truett walked and Kadyn McMiullen moved both runners up with a sacrifice bunt. Ryne Mills scored the run with a sacrifice fly to center.

The Colts (12-5) were helped in the 9-run fifth inning by 4 walks and a pair of Trojan errors.
