Southern Fulton Earn Walk-Off Win Over Meyersdale

The Southern Fulton Indians (9-0, 2-0) took Friday’s game in dramatic fashion, with a 5-3 walk-off victory over the feisty Meyersdale Raiders. The game was tied at three in the bottom of the seventh when Jett Burger homered to right field, scoring two runs.

Burger collected three hits in four at bats in the win. The big Sr, Burger hit a home run (his 101st career hit) to right field in the seventh inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the fifth inning.

Meyersdale opened the scoring in the first after Karter Schurg doubled and  scored after tagging up on a sacrifice fly to center field.

SF promptly answered in the bottom half as Jr catcher, Austin Mann, doubled sharply down the left field line, scoring Burger to tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.

Southern Fulton took the lead in the bottom of the third. Burger singled, scoring one run, to give the Indians the upper hand, 2-1.

Meyersdale captured the lead, 3-2, in the top of the fourth after Southern Fulton committed an error, and Dylan Teels scored after tagging up, each scoring one run.

The Indians responded again in their bottom half as FR. Colt Mann hit a sacrifice fly, which helped the Indians tie the game at three in the bottom of the fourth.

Colt Mann notched his first varsity win for Southern Fulton. The reliever surrendered one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking one. Joel Fitz opened the game for Southern Fulton. The hurler allowed two hits and three runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking one. Ryan Sechler began the game for Meyersdale. The hurler surrendered two hits and three runs (two earned) over four innings, striking out two and walking three.

Austin Mann collected two hits for Southern in three at bats. 

Southern Fulton welcomes their league foe and rival, the McConnellsburg Spartans, on Tuesday at 4:30.
