Southern Fulton traveled to Virginia to take on the defending state champs.  Both teams were very strong on the hill on Friday night in Rappahannock, Va, but the Southern Fulton Indians (7-0, 2-0) defeated the host 2-0.

The Indians got on the board in the third inning after Joel Fitz singled sharply, scoring Trentin Cain who had doubled with 2 outs.

The Indians were able to add an insurance run in the top of the sixth inning by capitalizing on a Joel Fitz single and stolen base.   A huge 2 out single by his brother, Mark Fitz, then scored him to make it 2-0.

Jr, Owen Oakman (4-0) earned the win for Southern Fulton. The pitcher surrendered three hits and zero runs over six and two-thirds innings, striking out nine and walking none. Hayes took the loss for Rappahannock.

Joel Fitz led Southern Fulton with two hits in three at bats from the leadoff position. Southern Fulton defense was huge all game but turned a big 6-4-3 double play in the bottom of the 7th to quell the late game rally of the Red Raiders.

Game 2 of the weekend double has Southern Fulton  at Rappahannock on Saturday at 12pm
